KEC Communications and Events Intern

Location: Knoxville, TN (hybrid / flexible)

Hours: ~30 hours per week

Duration: Summer 2026 (May – August)

Compensation: $8,160 Stipend in Partnership with LaunchTN

Position Overview

KEC is seeking a motivated Summer Intern to support our communications and event administration efforts. This role is ideal for someone interested in marketing, communications, nonprofit work, event planning, or entrepreneurship. You’ll gain hands-on experience supporting real programs and events while working closely with the KEC team.

This position offers a flexible work style, with a mix of in-office time at KEC, remote work, and on-site support during events.

Key Responsibilities

Communications Support

  • Assist with drafting and scheduling content for email newsletters, event promotions, and social media
  • Help create content at KEC/TMC events in both photo and video formats
  • Support basic reporting on engagement (email opens, registrations, social performance)
  • Assist with general brand and messaging consistency across platforms

 

Event Administration

  • Support administrative tasks related to workshops, meetups, and community events
  • Assist with event setup, check-in, and breakdown (as needed)
  • Manage registration lists, attendee communications, and post-event follow-up
  • Help document events through photos, notes, or recap content

 

General Support

  • Provide administrative support to KEC programming and operations as needed
  • Assist with special projects tied to community engagement and partnerships

 

Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable
  • Comfortable juggling multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Interest in entrepreneurship, small business, marketing, communications, or nonprofit work
  • Familiarity with tools like Google Workspace, Canva, or social media platforms is a plus
